12/31/2018 - Happy New Year Everyone!

Happy New years eve everyone!
Wow its so crazy how fast time flies. Well this week was great. Let me tell you why. So we had Christmas eve on Monday and here they celebrate Christmas at midnight. So on Christmas eve they have a big dinner at midnight and they set off fireworks and they spend time with their family and friends. So we got to go with a family, Familia Lugo and we got permission to have the elders there too so we all went and even though we didn't get to stay out until midnight Presidente gave us permission to stay out till 10:30. It was fun. We got to spend time with the family and members and eat super good food.
Then Hermana Fife and I when we got home her mom sent her presents and so we opened one that said open on Christmas eve and they were matching pajamas and so we got in them and then read the birth of Christ in the bible like my dad does every year. It was so fun. We went to bed and then the next day was CHRISTMAS! SO we had our district council and so we met actually as a zone in the offices and we watched Christmas videos that I have. It was super fun. Hermana Fife and I made shirts for everyone and they weren't as great as we expected them to be but they turned out awesome and we gave them to everyone for Christmas.

So on Christmas we didn't have lunch, it got cancelled. So we were gonna go out to a restaurant to eat and celebrate a little. Well we had forgotten it was Christmas and when we left there was nothing open because everyone was still asleep. Well then we walked around forever and nothing was open so we decided to skip lunch and just go to work. We then walked around and no one was home jaja. Because they celebrate Christmas until like 4 in the morning everyone sleeps in really late. So we were walking around and contacting until our lesson with a man named Jorge. Now Jorge is a very depressed man. He is in a wheel chair and has disabilities and is missing one leg and is gonna lose his big toe and his parents died a few months ago and his brother a few weeks ago and he just hates life. When we found him he didn't really let us talk but he now likes listening to us and we have been teaching him and he was waiting for us on Christmas so we could teach him more. He lives alone and he was so sweet because we had mentioned that we hadn't eaten because everything was closed and so he went into his kitchen and he got us some of his food from the noche buena. We had a great lesson with him and he wanted to go to church. So that was cool.

Then in the night we got to skype our families. The internet was really bad and so when I tried to do a 4 way skype with my family it wasn't working too well but it was so good to see them. Shout out to the Davis Gang! I love you guys tons and sorry for my bad internet.

On Wednesday we had intercambios with Ettiene and I was with Hermana Sedillo. She is such a cute little thing and she was so scared to be with me. She says I scare her. I thinks its because I have a lot of time on the mission but it was cute because at the end of the day she was like there is no reason to be scared jaja. We had a funny experience though. So anyone who knows me knows I can be super stubborn and we were on our way to a lesson and we got lost so as Hermana Sedillo was trying to call the family I went to contact a house and ask what street we were on. So an older lady left the house and I went to talk to her but before I could even open my mouth she was like no another day. And I was like no Hermana I just have a question can you tell me what this street is called. And she said no another day. I told her we got lost and we needed some help and she told me she didn't want to help me and I got stubborn. I was like wow do you live here and she didn't so I asked her to call out someone who lived there. She said no one was home but I saw a guy and I felt the spirit really strong we needed to talk to him so I told her to call the owner of the house because I saw him and she was like no I'm not gonna help you so leave. She started to walk away and I was like well then and started clapping really loud. She got super mad and went and called the guy who I saw. He came out confused and politely I asked him the name of the street and he told me and I thanked him and was going to leave but he stopped and asked if we were the missionaries. I said yes and by this time the old mean lady had left. The guy told us his name and told us that he was a member but when he separated from him wife he stopped going to church and wanted to go back but needed help to do it. He couldn't do it alone. It was a really cool experience.

But on Thursday we went straight from Ettiene to Libertad and had it was them. I was in Fernando with Hermana Mooring. Her and I are very similar. So we had a lot of fun. We found good people and a lady gave us free ice cream and then we had a great lesson with her. But we ended up walking a lot and we had a lesson with Jorge and he said he doesn't know what it is but he feels different when we are there and so he likes it when we visit him. He wanted to come to church. On Friday we went from libertad to Herrera because they have been having some problems and so we had a good talk with them. One of the Hermana's isn't really taking her mission serious. She doesn't really care to be here so she just goofs off and it makes me sad because it is such a blessing we have to be here and the fact she doesn't really care makes me ache.

But I bore my testimony on the importance of my mission and I've become such a softy because I even cried. But it was good. I believed we really helped them.

On Saturday we finally got to work together Hermana Fife and I. We were able to work even though it was super hot and honestly no one was there because of the new years everyone is in the interior so its been pretty fun. But we went to a lesson and we were walking and we passed a house and a dog ran up and bit me. So got a whole in my arm but we are gonna go back to the house and I'm sure its divine design and the owners are going to be baptized jaja. Vamos a ver. Also Saturday our lunch was cancelled and we didn't have a ton of food in the house so we called Hermana Cordero and asked her if she was okay if we could come by and make a sandwich or something. She said yes, and we didn't know it at the time but she was sick and she was missing her daughters and we remind her a lot of her daughters and so she asked in prayer for the strength that if she couldn't help her daughters for reals that she would be able to help us.

When we passed on Saturday she had like ramen soup and we ate it and it was good but we thought it was all and we were starving so we tried to fill up on bread and we ate a ton of bread and then she was like alright the main dish. So we were like what? She brought our this huge peruyana dish and it was super good but we were stuffed by the end and then she brought out a dessert and she is so great. I dont know why we doubted. Of course Hermana Cordero is gonna have a 5 course meal. She is so sweet. On Sunday it was the last 3 hour block. We had plans to have a lot of our friends into church and no one showed up so that was a little sad but one of my converts Nestor taught our class and he did a great job. It was super spiritual. After church we had lunch in the house and decided to celebrate un poco for Hermana Fife having 11 months on the mission. So we made popcorn and watched videos in our matching pajamas. It was a lot of fun.

Sunday we worked hard and it was good. It rained and we got soaked but we found a lady named Deolinda and she is literally so amazing. She has all the right questions and wants to know what the truth is. Updates to come. Also we have cambios . So I am staying here with Hermana fife!!!! I love her so much and I am so excited to be able to stay here to finish my mission where I started it. I cant wait!!! I encourage everyone this new year to be able to think in one thing. One thing you want to do better to be able to fully convert yourself to the Lord. That is read the scriptures more. Pay more attention in church. Pray with all your heart. Do something to show the Lord that you WANT to improve this year to be more like Him. Give your 2019 to Him because He has given everything to you. I love you all so much!!
