1/8/2018 -I will be hitting 5 months in the mission soon. That is crazy!!!!

o I will be hitting 5 months in the mission soon. That is crazy....

Hola everyone cómo están!

This week went by in a a flash by we had some good days though.

We found great people to be able to teach. We also had intercambios again. This time I left and went to Nemby and it was really big. It has lots of hills and no roads. But it was a lot of fun to be in a different area.

Hermana Ostvig was really worried to stay in Fernando. It was funny because she was saying the same things I was saying when I had to stay in the area for intercambios. It was like a flash back. But she did great. She was so worried. So she went out and I gave her maps and we talked about where she needed to go and things like that so that she wouldn't be worried. But when she went out she forgot all the maps and everything. It was so funny. So she told Hermana Joly, the Hermana leader that was in our area, that they were just going to follow the Spirit. And they found a lot of really awesome people. They found this whole family that had been asking themselves why are there so many churches and which church is the correct one. It was really cool to see how the Spirit really did guide them to be able to find people who are ready to hear the truth.

Also a while back we found this lady named Gladys. Our lesson with her was so great. She listened so much and she said she was going to pray and read and find out the truth for herself. It was so great. But then with all the holidays she left and we couldn't find her anymore. We finally found her on Saturday and we asked her what was going on. Well it turns out that her uncle is a pastor and told her all these bad things about the church so she didn't read or pray. She told us she liked what we were teaching but it wasn't for her. She didn't want to make her family upset. We had a lesson with her that was so so spiritual. All we did was testify of the truth. I cant even describe the feeling of the lesson. It was so powerful. And she couldn't deny it. She said she would pray, and I honestly don't know what's going to happen because she said we should teach her in her house because the neighbors are extremely Catolica. But we will see how her prayer went.

Okay something that is funny this week. So we found these two ladies. They are like in their 60 something. But they always sit outside their houses in their chairs and talk. Hermana Ostvig and I call it chair time. So we have passed for them a few times and I think I talked about it in my last email, but to say the least they are interesting people. So we passed for them again and they weren't outside. So we clapped on their house to see if they were home and Maria Lu came out and saw us and grabbed two chairs. It was funny. She just grabbed the chairs no mas. She set them up and we were gonna have chair time. So we sat out with her and started talking and she started giving us all the gossip of her neighbor that she normally sits with. So then her neighbor Eugelia came out and Maria Lu left for some reason into the house of Eugelia. So then Eugelia gave us all the gossip about Maria Lu. Then her husband came out, he is 85. We asked if we could start our lesson with a song. So this guy was like sure. And he started singing us a song they I guess he wrote. We were afraid it was going to be a 15 minute song. Eugelia looked so proud and Maria Lu, finally came back from doing the laundry of the son of Eugelia, looked like this was normal and that he does this all the time. It was a strange lesson, if we can even call it a lesson. We finally got time in to share a scripture and testify, but it was a struggle. It was so funny though because it was just one thing after another kept happening. But finally at the end of the lesson, we were trying to say a prayer so we could leave. And this lady walked up and started talking to Eugelia. We were really worried we were going to go over in the lesson and not have disobedience. But Maria Lu gots our back because she was like do you need to pray. And we said yes. She s turned to this friend and Eugelia and in Guarani said Hey they need to pray stop talking and listen. It was so funny. She definitely understand us jaja but we probably wont pass for chair time for a while.

Also so we passed to teach Rosie again. We hadn't passed in over a week and it is always hard after someone is baptized because everyday before the baptism we pass to teach them and talk to them to keep them excited and to answer any doubts that they might have. But after they are baptized we try and let the members take over so they can have friends and feel comfortable in the church. So we decided to pass and Rosie wasn't home. So we were kinda sad. But Fernando and Lourdes were home.
So we were just going to leave, but Fernando was so excited we were there and invited us in without hesitation. So we went in and they were so happy we were there. They were like it has been so long we thought you forgot about us. So we had a lesson with them about Prophets. They have been reading talks in the Liahona and were excited to talk about what they learned. Then at the end of the lesson Fernando thanked us for coming. Side note, this is the same Fernando that had served a mission but started living with Lourdes after he separated from his wife and started going down hill. The same Fernando that asked us where he can find his peace. The same Fernando that would hide whenever we came to teach Rosie and wouldn't pray when we asked him to. But this same Fernanado told us at the end of the lesson that he is so grateful for us to come and teach in his home. That he can feel the difference when we could and teach and they he can feel the spirit more. He was so grateful to be reminded of the things he knew to be true. His smile and light was back. He has changed so much and he even offered to say the closing prayer and it was a really strong prayer. It is so great to see the difference that this gospel can make. I am so proud of him. Then they came to church and they went to all the classes and stayed for all three hours and he participated in class. He was talking and making comments and helping the teacher. It was so cool to see that light inside of his because it definitely wasn't there when we first started teaching with him. It has been pretty chill here in Fernando de la Mora. Well not temperature wise. It is extremely hot all the time. But it is so great to be here.

I know this church is true. There isn't a doubt in my mind.! I know that every struggle, every trial, every bumpy hill in our lives are for a reason. We are here to learn and to grow. To experience joy and we cant do that without experiencing trials and afflictions. I love each and everyone of you. And my invitation to all of you is that if you really want to know, if you have a question, or a doubt, ask God with true intentions and a sincere heart and I know you will find your answer. Do your part and you will receive the blessings that God has in store for you. Love you all!!! Till next time.

ps. So we were at this one families house and they are kinda crazy and are a different religion, I don't even know what religion, but they believe God is energy and all this stuff. I don't know they are really sweet people though but they always like quiz us. So we were trying to leave and Hermana Ostvig stood up and knocked one of their glasses over and it shattered. It was so funny because I just like knew this family we were gonna either never have to go back again or go back because we broke their glass. They were really sweet though about it. They were like don't worry its okay. It was so funny though and uncomfortable. But yeah so that happened.

also sorry I didn't take any photos this week but I will send some next week
