4/30/18- The reasons we don't follow thru....

Hola

Okay wow so what can I tell you about what happened this week. On Monday it was one of our investigators birthdays so we made her brownies and took it to her. She usually doesn't let us in her house because she says her family doesn't like us but we got there and she let us right in and she was super excited to share with us. It was really nice. She was so happy. On Tuesday we met this really nice lady. So right now is the season of pomelos. They are everywhere. And so we wanted to eat some but it doesn't make any sense to buy them. So we were working and we contacted a lady outside her house. She was so nice and sweet and friendly. We started talking her and she had this huge pomelo tree in front of her house and they were huge. She must of noticed us admiring her pomelos because she offered us some. It was super nice. So she left and came out with this giant stick. Like huge with a hook at the end and starting cutting down some pomelos para nosotras. It was so funny to watch. They she brought out a bag and gave us them. We were so grateful. She then went in and brought out some frozen juice that they had made. She took the time to squeeze pomelo juice and free it and she gave it to us. People here are so nice. She was so great. We asked what we could do to repay her and she said that our prayers would be enough. It was so cute. She was this little old lady too.

Tuesday we also had a lesson with Familia Cesperez. They are some people we have been starting to teach here. Its the mom and dad and two hijas. They love to talk to us and ask us all these different questions about English and Los Estados Unidos and things so we didn't really know how interested they were. But we were having a leccion con ellos and the dad came in a little late and so he sat down and turn to the wife and asked if we had talked about baptism yet. She said no. So he waited a bit anxiously as we continued to teach and at the end of the leccion we asked if anyone had questions. The dad sat straight up and asked what they had to do to be baptized. We were so thrown off. We told them what they had to do and they accepted un dia to be baptized. It was so great.

Oh and we also had cambios so on Wednesday we got to see the new people who are in our zone. Elder Kelley left Paraguay and we have a new elder se llama......Elder Davis. Yeah it is definitely weird having two Davis here. Everyone thinks we are related. Elder Davis is tall and super red headed it is kinda funny. But who knows maybe, somehow we are related.

Wednesday we had our classes de Ingles. Its always fun to see the kids try to learn new words and really apply them. We have an investigator named Andrea. She is super great. We taught her on Thursday and she was so great. She wants to come to church and she wants to be baptized. She knows the church is true and she loves sharing with us. We taught the Word of Wisdom and usually young adult here drink a lot of coffee so we thought that is what she would have a problem with. So we tried to focus in that and she told us yeah I don't drink coffee. I always grew up knowing it was bad for you. So I never liked to drink it. We were celebrating in our heads. Oh and Saturday por fin we found Gladys again. We haven't been able to find her in weeks. And we finally got to teach her again. She really wants to be baptized but her dad is very Catholic and doesn't give her permission to be baptized. She is really torn up right now. But she promised us she would come to church to be able to feel the strength of God to make a decision. We were so happy because she was so sure she was coming she said that she needed to and she knew she needed to. So we were excited to have her come. We made plans to have a member pass for her and we were talked to the teachers to be able to plan to have her in their classes. We did everything in our power to make sure she would have an amazing and spiritual experience in la capilla.
We planned and planned. But Sunday morning, we waited and waited and waited some more. And she didn't come. When we tried to pass for her she had left so that we couldn't share with her. I don't know what is going on with her but I can testify that God has a plan perfect for Gladys. I know I was sent to Paraguay to find her but perhaps it is not my job to baptize her. Just plant that seed and let other missionaries harvest it. It still makes me very sad though because I love her with all my heart. She is like a sister to me. But to be able to have the faith in God and rely on Him has helped me so much.

Also on Sunday we had plans for Ronaldo to be in church and a family Familia Cesperez. However neither of them showed up either. So we were very sad because both of them promised to come. First Familia Cesperez has dengue. Every single on of them. So that is kinda sad how when we are on the right path there is always something that comes to test our faith. But they are going to get better soon and then we can visit them again to get them ready. But with Ronaldo. Awe this one broke my heart. Ronaldo has 13 years and a bit shy. He is like a little brother too. He is so sweet. He told us he was coming to church and when we didn't we were so worried about what happened. When we passed to see what happened he looked really sad. I think he thought he was in trouble or something but we were trying to just see how he is. He told us he didn't have a suit so he didn't come. He even tried on an old suit he had when he was younger but it was too small and all the other little kids had suits so he didn't want to come in his jeans and t-shirt. My heart literally broke. I was so sad that he didn't come because he wanted to be like the other boys and girls in suits and nice clothes and its too expensive to go and buy one. You can bet what I did. Next day I went out and bought a suit. He is such a good kid and just wants to fit in. My heart. Oh man he is so great and he will be baptized next week so that is super exciting.

Well this week was crazy. It felt like a life time but everyday taught me that to have success as a missionary or in our lives we need to rely on God. For the month of Abril I studied the Christ like Attribute of Faith and I can truly say that this month my faith had been tested more than any other time in my mission but with everything I did I saw that with faith in the Lord, everything worked out. Maybe not in the way I had planned, and definitely not in the timing I had planned but in the way that it was suppose to work out. I know that God hears our prayers. Every single one. And that just because we cant see that He answered them, doesn't mean He didn't. I love you all. I testify that this is the true church. I testify that God lives and loves us. And I testify with all my heart that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I love you all. Till next time. Happy Mayo!!!!

PS sorry don't have a ton of photos this week.
