We also found a lady names Isabel. We were wondering where to go. All of our lessons fell through and so we decided to go talk to this lady who was doing work in the road, pulling weeds and other stuff. So we walked over and asked if we could help. Literally no one ever says yes. It is like an insult if we help them. But she looked at us and looked extremely exhausted. She was like are you serious of course you can help me. So we started doing all this road and yard work. It was super funny. She was so grateful. After about 40 minutes, she told us that was good and invited us in. We started to teach her and when I started to testify about the bendiciones she could have por medio de nuestro mensaje she started to cry. It was a very spiritual moment. We didn't have a lot of time to teach her because we had studies, but we set up another meeting for Saturday. When we passed Saturday she was super busy and dropped everything. She was super excited. She told us come in come in. She showed us a Book of Mormon she received in 2014 from some elders. She had lots of questions about the church things about the word of wisdom and law of chastity.
I didn't think it was a super productive lesson because we were all over the place. But she asked me something about since I was raised in the church that's why I am here. In that moment the spirit was so strong as I told her how every single person needs to find out for themselves if the church is true. That even though I was born into the church I had to read my scriptures and pray to find out for myself because I couldn't rely on the words of my family. I told her the story of when I was 15. I've never cried in a lesson here. But this one got really close. I looked at her and told her that the only way she is going to know that what we are saying is true is to pray and find out from the one person who she can trust without any doubts, her Heavenly Father. We said a kneeling prayer and she offered it. As she began she started to cry and could hardly get the words out. The Spirit was so strong. I have a really good feeling about her.
We also met a young lady who is 19. She was cleaning her house and we asked to make an invitation super quick. She invited us in and we started to talk to her. She just moved to Paraguarí 2 months ago. We started to talk about how the gospel blesses families and she broke down crying too. Hermana Carhuancho gave her a hug and a strong testimony how she is a daughter of God. We taught them lesson 1 and they loved it all. They were all really excited to read the Book of Mormon and go to church. They didn't come but I am sure if is for a really good reason.
Oh also we hit the standards of excellencia of 20 nuevos this week. There are a lot of people here in the compana that are ready to hear the gospel. But it is really hard because our area is huge. But it is really great.
Oh man we also had intercambios. I GOT TO SEE HERMANA ROBINSON!
This has been a pretty fun change. I miss Hermana Ostvig and Hermana Varga, but it has been a great experience to be here in Paraguarí. I think I already said this but it has been 30 years since they have had Hermana's in this area. There has only been elders because of the conditions. But 3 months ago they opened it back up to Hermana's and I am the fourth Hermana to set foot in Paraguari for 30 years. It is really cool to see the difference of people here verses the city. I am also learning a lot of Guarani because some people only speak Guarani here. I have also been able to put my little to no knowledge of sign language to use with one of our investigators. She cant hear or speak and she tries to talk to us but her daughter doesn't speak sign language either. She was trying to ask questions and I was able to somewhat help her. It is super great here. I didn't have a lot of time to take photos of the area this week. We cant have our cameras during proselyting. But I am going to try and take more because now we have more things to take photos of jaja not just buildings and more buildings.
It was however hard to say goodbye to some of the people in Fernando. Fernando is my home and we had some good times in Fernando. But it was nice to be able to say goodbye to Rosie y Nestor y Amelia. But I am stoked to have this new adventure in the compana. I feel like I am at girls camp or trek or something with my cool hat and all the hills I have to climb. Also just call me professor Hermana Davis because I get to teach little paraguayos how to speak english. Vamos a ver jaja
I love you all. I know with all of my heart that La Iglesia de Jesucrist es la Iglesia que Jesucristo establicio. Oh pardon I am typing in Spanish. But I know that this is the gospel of Christ and that we can have true happiness, joy we can understand through the teaching of Christ. I also know that we can share this light we have with other all around the world. Our friends, family, and the people on the streets. And we don't have to have fear about what to say or what to do because it is a promise that God will help us with the words, we just need to open our mouths. I love you all. Till next week.
