3/19/2018 - New companion, Im a Trainer! Family email

Hey y'all

How's it going fam. So training has been super fun. It literally throws me back so hard to my training. I like have all these memories from my training. Some of the things Hermana Fife does I literally did too. For example we were doing our studies and it was time for Personal study so I said Personal because she didn't hear me correctly so I started saying my prayer in my head but she started praying out loud.
I started laughing and said Hermana personal study but you can pray out loud if you want. So she started laughing and was like I didn't hear what you said. And when I was in my training, this happened. Like word for word it happened. Hermana Robinson said personal, I didn't hear her correctly, started praying outloud, and then she was like Hermana personal study but you can pray out loud if you want. It was so funny that Hermana Fife did the exact same thing. It has been really fun to be with her. It is so crazy to speak English again though. It has been funny though because sometimes in lessons I look at her and she is like lost and I just remember how I felt in lessons in my training.
I had no idea what was going on. But she is so awesome and she actually talks. I like didn't talk at all. But with Hermana Fife I turn to her in lessons and even if she is lost and confused she starts to testify. It is so great. Sje is Vegas and she went to BYU. She is 20 and super pretty. Everyone here loves her. She is super great. She doesn't know Spanish. She studied a little bit so that is definitely helping her but she will learn really fast. Everyone talks to her in Guarani so poor thing.

And this week I think we are having intercambios again. Hermana Robinson is so excited to meet hermana Fife. She was so stoked. She calls us a lot and wants to talk to her. It is so cute. I am pretty sure they know each other though because they went to the same ward at BYU. Everyone went to BYU here. I think I am like the only American missionary here that didn't go to BYU before their mission. It is crazy.

But yeah the mission is so great. Time has flown by. It is so crazy. I don't even know where the time went on my mission. Hermana Fife was asking me questions about home and some of the stuff I didn't even remember. Like she asked me what I normally ate at home, if I was to open the pantry what would I eat and I honestly couldn't even remember. All I could think of was the food here. It was kinda funny actually. But yeah I got to be careful because if I blink to fast, ya fue ya my mision. But how is the Davis clan doing?

Avery is famous here. I carry a photo of her with me and everyone loves her. I think she is the screensaver of like 5 paraguayas. They all want to meet her and they ask me so many questions. It is so funny. They especially love the photo when she was in a pumpkin. How is moving and graduating and wedding and promotion stuff. How is everyone. I love you all!

Ps yeah the pic of my name badge was in guaraní. I only wear it on special occasions. But I love it.

3/19/2018 - Hermana Fife!

This week was amazing I don't even know where to start, but we will start with Monday.

Monday night we went to visit Mercedez y Alexis so Hermana Carhuancho could say goodbye. We were teaching and then like all of a sudden Nelson and Andrea came and we were like hey do you want to share with us and they were like sure. Then like Claudia and pati came and then like Adri came and we were so confused because everyone was there and we were trying to teach and then Alexis kept leaving. But then they were like okay we can go inside. They took Hermana Carhuancho and closed her eyes and they had made a cake and a sign that is thanking her for helping them following Christ on his path. They had sandwiches and pizza and it was honestly so cute and sweet of them. It was so nice.

So cambios were crazy. We had to wake up early at like 5 and Hermana Carhuancho and I grabbed all of her stuff and left for her area Yaguaron. When we got there we helped Hermana Barrios with her stuff and she needed to get a collectivo so we were waiting and waiting and it never came. So we called her a taxi. But we waited a really long time. Then I had to wait till I could go to the offices to pick up my trainee. I got to the offices an hour early, which is like I shouldn't have done that. But my taxi driver is a super good friend with Presidente Wilson and he didn't want me to be late. So I got to help the office workers with some stuff for the newbies. Then we had some meetings and I got to say goodbye to a one of my friends who finished her mission. But guess what Hermana Varga is training again. The Lord obviously wants her to train. But then we waiting to meet our new companions.

When the new missionaries walked in to the room I saw one of the Hermanas and knew that she was my companion. So we got put with our new companions and mine is Hermana Fife. She is from Las Vegas and she is tall and blonde and super pretty and super sweet. I am so stoked. She studied Spanish a little bit before her mission but not really. She is super nice and is ready to work! We got back home from the offices about 7 in the night so she unpacked a little but then we went to visit Mercedez y Alexis y Carlos. They were so sweet. The thing is Hermana Fife is the first sister missionary to train here in Paraguarí( in the area they are serving in ) for over 40 years. So all the members and everyone is really excited to meet her. Hermana Robinson couldn't wait to call us to meet her. She was so excited.

Wednesday we had meetings and Hermana Fife got to meet everyone in the Zone. It is kinda weird because we saw Hermana Carhuancho again. But it was nice to see her.
But Hermana Fife is killing it. She is so ready to get out and work. She is also super funny. She is super pretty and everyone here loves her. Friday and Saturday we worked really hard and she has been doing so much better than I was in my training. She is like actually talking. When I was in my training I didn't talk like at all. I just sat in lessons and smiled. But no she is awesome. She is joking around with the members and trying her hardest. She is so great. I am super stoked for these cambios together.

Sunday was super awesome. It was kinda hard because one of our investigators, her son died in an accident and everyone here is related or knows each other so a lot of the members were affected and our investigator Gladys, it was her really good friend. But we got to visit with her and talk about the Atonement and that Christ is always with us to help us through our difficulties. She was really happy we could talk to her. She is so great.

This week I learned a lot that it doesn't matter what we are going through that we can always rely on Christ. It has been a very humbling experience to be able to train Hermana Fife. She is trying so hard and doing her best. She has such a strong testimony and when she bears it you can see that it doesn't matter how good we speak a language because the language of the Spirit is universal and the people here really can feel the Spirit. I am so proud of her. We didn't have a lot of time to take pictures this week but we will do more next week. Because this church is true. Christ is there to help you through all of your trials and tribulations. If you don't believe me, get down on your knees and ask Him if He is there and He will answer. I promise. I love you all. Hope everyone is doing fantastic. Rohayhu!!

The little boy is Jonas. He is 2 and so darn cute.
The really tall Hermana is Hermana Robinsons trainer she finished her mission and is en casa now, the one in the yellow shirt is hermana varga.

3/12/2018 - Going to be a Trainer!

7 months in my mission ya and well...
IM A MOM!!!

Yeah so we found out cambios and I am training. Don't know who my hija is yet but I am so excited to be able to train. Paraguari better look out because this is the first Hermana to be trained in Paraguari for more than 30 years.

But in other news...

Wow okay so this week was great. We had a baptism!!! Nelson was baptized.
We were a little worried because we couldn't visit him the week before his mission because he works all day and studies all night so we didn't have time to pass for him. But he es tan capo y when we talked to him on the phone he was super excited. I asked him how he felt to be getting baptized and he told me he was demasiado animado. Which is he is the most excited. Wow English is hard. But it was super amazing. When he left the water his smile was so big and he looked so happy. When I asked him how he felt afterwards he told me he felt relieved and free. He is so great. And Sunday he received the Spirit and it was so amazing. He is just so happy.
Nelson is super timid too and he doesn't really smile or talk a lot and so you can see the difference in him. He shines so bright. It is so amazing.
This week was kinda no se, it flew by. We had lessons that were super great. We also had lessons that I wish the people would just be able to rely on God. Por ejemplo. We had a lesson with an investigator se llama Virginia. She had so much potential to progress and then just kinda dropped off the earth. She wouldn't answer our calls and was never home. But we passed by and she had her friend over and her friend is a member but doesn't like how she has to keep the commandments so stopped going to church. So we tried to share with them and they were asking us all these really random questions. We got on the topic of why kids have to suffer in this world. We shared a scripture that talks about how everyone has their agency and how some people have to suffer the affects of other peoples agency. Virginia went on this huge rant about how others need to take care of their kids and how they shouldn't have to suffer. We testified about how God has a plan that is perfect and how even though some people have to go through pain because of the choices of other people God is there to help us. We testified that Christ himself suffered for other peoples choices. But then she went on this rant how doomed this world is and how Christ choose to suffer and kids dont choose to suffer. It was so hard because everything she kept saying just proved more and more that every person in this world has the ability to choose for themselves and that we need to choose to follow Christ. But she really didn't want to listen to us just tell us her opinion. We tried to testify and could hardly get out a word but we left her a part of the Book of Mormon to read and hopefully that will help answer her doubts. But all in all I know that God really does have a plan for each and every one of us. But we all do have our agency. So does everyone else. Sometimes we have to go through hard times because of the actions of other people and we ask why is this happening? Why didn't God stop this if He knew it was going to happen? But the thing is God is never going to take away our Agency but He will always be there to help us through the consequences of the natural man.

We passed for our investigator Isabel and she had some of her friends over. We started talking and on of her friends is from Fernando De La Mora, my old area. We talked about different places in Fernando and it was so much fun. Also she lived in the states for a few years and knows some English. She was talking to me in English and let me tell you, my English is awful
jaja. I had to translate it into Spanish so I could speak to her. I got 7 months on the mish, someone's is going to have to translate for me for my homecoming jaja. No just kidding Im not coming home this is my life now jaja forever.
We taught Gladys again. She is so great. She is a true testimony to me that when people follow the commandments, they are blessed. She was telling us how she was getting sick but she prayed and started to follow the Word of Wisdom and she feels better and knows its because she is keeping the commandments. Literally she is so amazing. The only problem with her is that she works all the morning and then studies all the night until about 9 and we have to be in our house at 9. It is really hard to find a time that works for both of us, but she is progressing muchisimo.
Today for our last pday together Hermana Carhuancho and I went to this place called the Frutaria. It is super nice and chuchi. We got matching bracelets. Yeah we cute jaja.

I learned so much this cambio. I learned about patience and humility. I learned about how really we cant do anything in this life without Christ. He is there to help us but we need to do our part as well. He cant make us do anything. He cant make us change. I am so grateful for the privilege to serve a mission and to spread the word of God and the light of Christ with my brothers and sisters here in Paraguay. Everyday I am so humbled by the things I learn. I am so grateful for all of you for your prayers and support. Till next week fam.
